Maximum Pay Rate: $40/hr (W2)
The Substitute Teacher – Autism provides instructional and behavioral support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role follows established lesson plans, IEP goals, and behavior plans while maintaining a structured, supportive classroom environment.
Core Responsibilities Instruction & Classroom SupportImplement lesson plans and IEP goals provided by the primary SPED teacher.
Deliver instruction in small groups or one-on-one.
Support academic, social, communication, and daily-living skill development.
Follow and apply behavior intervention/support plans consistently.
Utilize positive reinforcement, visual supports, and structured routines.
Assist with redirection, de-escalation, and crisis prevention during challenging behaviors.
Maintain a safe, organized, and predictable classroom setting.
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities.
Ensure adherence to classroom routines and expectations.
Collect basic student data related to IEP progress.
Document behavior incidents and progress notes as required by the school.
Basic knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and special education practices.
Ability to follow structured plans, routines, and teacher instructions.
Strong communication skills with patience, calmness, and consistency.
Ability to manage behaviors safely and appropriately.
